*Please note: I am currently offering therapy via telemental health only, and clients must be located in Pennsylvania at the time of each session.
I believe all people have the potential and ability to change, heal and find meaning, and I see myself as a facilitator or guide to help you activate your own natural ability to do this. While my specialties are trauma therapy and grief therapy, I also help clients with a wide range of other types of issues. I believe most problems in the present relate in some way to unresolved issues from the past. We will work together to identify what these are and resolve them to bring about the change you want in your life.
My approach to therapy is attachment- and strengths-based, grounded in neurobiology and influenced by a number of different theories. I primarily use EMDR therapy and integrate ideas and techniques from many other types of therapy. Although EMDR was originally only used for trauma, it has now been shown to be effective for many different kinds of issues. I utilize Flash Technique within EMDR therapy as needed to help clients resolve particularly disturbing memories.
Education and Experience: I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Pennsylvania, a certified EMDR therapist and an EMDR Consultant-In-Training. I have a Master of Social Service degree from Bryn Mawr College (2015) and a Master of Education degree from Antioch University (2006). I also have a certificate of Advanced Studies in Trauma Counseling from Thomas Jefferson University and a Grief Support Specialist certificate from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and I am certified in Telemental Health. As a former educator, I have taught a variety of subjects to students of all ages, from pre-K through adult, and I draw on many aspects of my teaching background to enhance my therapy work. I am also a certified yoga teacher and incorporate yoga, meditation and mindfulness practices and philosophy in my therapy work when appropriate for specific clients.
