Madison’s overarching philosophy for providing mental health services focuses on empowering and supporting her clients while emphasizing their strengths. She specializes in working with those who have experienced trauma, particularly interpersonal trauma. Additionally, she works with adults and older adults with concerns related to grief and loss, life transitions, boundary setting, interpersonal issues, and identity issues. Madison is also trained in adoption competency and works individually with adult and teen adoptees as well as individuals who have or who are pursuing adoption.
Madison sees relationship-building as a key purpose of therapy. She enjoys using humor and compassionate understanding to build unique relationships with every client. She prioritizes a client-directed approach where client and therapist come together to determine the client’s goals, and she works alongside clients toward the change they desire. Madison utilizes an eclectic approach that incorporates cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), psychoeducation, and mindfulness. Madison is also an LGBTQ-friendly and fat-friendly counselor, and she actively works to educate herself to increase cultural and racial awareness.
