Whether this is your first, second, or tenth time attempting to find a new therapist, it is my sincere hope that you find the right therapist for you during this search. The search often feels like a never-ending process, especially when you are already hurting deeply. Let me affirm you that your efforts are worthwhile. Therapy can be a life-changing process, especially as you find freedom from trauma memories.
I believe therapy is not forever. I always say, “If I’m doing my job well, then I’m working myself out of a job.” I sincerely want my practice to be a revolving door for people to come, get better, and go make the world a better place. Therapy is hard work, but the flash technique makes it a little less hard. I love that! I want you to experience that kind of freedom. I don’t want you to have to be chained to a couch forever.
I am thoroughly equipped to help you in your journey toward freedom from traumatic memories. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Oklahoma and the owner of Morning Light Christian Counseling in Oklahoma City. In addition to being a Flash-Trained Therapist, I have been trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) since 2016. I am now a an EMDR Certified Therapist, which means I did advanced training and consultation to better help my clients process their trauma using this research-based technique. Although EMDR is one of my primary trauma-processing techniques, I am also trained in Prepare-Enrich and SYMBIS. I have also completed Level 1 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy. These three tools to help with relationship counseling mean that I am equipped to help individuals and couples heal from trauma. In addition to my active license and extensive training, my education includes holding a Master of Divinity with specialization in counseling from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Science from Oklahoma City University. My seminary education specifically equips me to help people seeking counseling from a Christian perspective.
Though counseling is the primary focus of my profession, I also conduct trainings. I am an authorized Darkness to Light Childhood Sexual Abuse Prevention Facilitator. My training in preventing childhood sexual abuse gives me an opportunity to help prevent many of the atrocities I help clients process on a daily basis. It also gives me special tools to help families heal and prevent cyclical abuse.
When I’m not sitting across from the bravest people I know as they work through deep hurts, I am usually exploring the outdoors with my dog, drinking hot tea with a good book, serving at my church, or sweating in a cycle class.
