Hello! I received my formal education at Purdue University in psychology in 1987 then my master’s is social work in 1992 at Indiana University. More importantly, most of my education has developed by working with beautiful and diverse individuals, families, groups and other professionals throughout my career, through volunteer work, and continued training. I have worked with young children through adults in multiple, public and private settings including foster care, inpatient, residential, outpatient, school-based, and home-based counseling.
I work with clients who experience anxiety, depression, PTSD, mood disorders, autism spectrum, ADHD, low self-esteem, social skills and relationship issues, identity issues, abuse, adverse life experiences and/or trauma. I am an EMDRIA-approved therapist. It is my passion to assist clients through safe, knowledgeable, and accepting journeys where they can experience more of their potential for reaching the goals they set. I utilize evidence-based practices such as EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Positive Psychology, Solution-Focused, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and others depending on your wants and needs.
I wholeheartedly believe that the you are the expert on you– even during confusing times where you question who you are, and that the answers lie within you. The many things of which you may struggle may have helped get you to this point. My work is to join with you in a safe and positive, professional relationship in order for you to gain tools to change things that aren’t working anymore and to gain insight about your past and present in ways that can bring you more peace of mind and increased capacity to meet your goals for the future.
