Laura Hensley, LPCC-S, enjoys working with adults and adolescents who are ready to make changes in their lives. She specializes in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder and other trauma related issues, grief, depression, self harming, anxiety, personality disorders, as well as issues related to substance abuse and dependence.
Laura utilizes several approaches in treatment, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Flash Technique (FT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients achieve their goals. As the wife of a Master Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, Laura is familiar with both the pride and hardships that are a unique part of being a military family, and has a passion for working with military members and their families.
Laura is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the state of Kentucky and is a board approved clinical supervisor for counseling associates. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Hawaii Pacific University in 2003, and her Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Cincinnati in 2007. Prior to joining Viewpoint in 2012, Laura devoted six years to providing therapy and parent coaching to foster youth and families. Additionally, she has worked in an outpatient substance abuse treatment center for adults and a residential treatment facility for adolescent females. Laura has had extensive experience with both adults and adolescents, which has helped shape and develop her expertise in treatment throughout the life span.
