As as Sensorimotor psychotherapist I fully understand how trauma is held within the body and brain. It can easily become activated from triggers/reminders of trauma in the present day. The implicit nature of memory can be overwhelming when triggered and trauma treatment requires resource building, stabilisation and processing. Sometimes trauma activation creates overwhelm through flooding or dissociation so using Flash alongside sensorimotor techniques can effectively regulate and process trauma when individuals do not want to go there. Both Sensorimotor and Flash can combine effectively.
