I am a clinical psychologist in Japan and specialize in trauma and post traumatic growth.
Since 1996, I have worked with people of all ages at a public child/adolescent care center, at a mental clinic, and at my private office.
I have extensive experience and training in various psychotherapy for a wide range of clients. For example, when I worked for a public counseling center, I learned about Jungian analytical psychotherapy at an institute which was established by Hayao Kawai. I also learned Art therapy (drawing therapy, collage therapy), Play therapy, Dream therapy, and Hakoniwa therapy (miniature garden therapy/ sand play technique). After I started to work for a mental health clinic in 2000, psychotherapists who worked for the clinic had to be assessed by Rorschach test and several other psychological tests, so I started to learn about Rorschach tests in a closed Rorschach study group which was studying psychodynamics of another institute at the same time.
I had been attending the training cognitive behavioral psychotherapy, image psychotherapy, and so on. But the issue for the client always happen beyond of the client’s consciousness or out of his/her consciousness. I had been interested in how I can approach to the client’s subconsciousness or unconsciousness which influences his/her problems. One day, while I was in a session, one word was coming to me, it was “BODY”. I thought that I should think not only mind but also body.
Since then, I have been training in various body-oriented somatic psychotherapy including the Dohsa-hou, EMDR, Clinical Hypnotherapy, Mindfulness psychotherapy(Mindfulness relaxation, Mindfulness dancing, etc), Somatic experiencing, Sesorimotor Psychotherapy, NARM, Brain Spotting, SEE FAR CBT and so on. Learning the therapy, at the same time, learning about trauma and trauma mechanism of human being.
I also taught psychology at a University as an associate professor for 7 years in Japan.
