My counselling practice is based on offering an individualized approach to helping each person I meet to adapt, grow and thrive with life challenges. We face so many different challenges at different times in our lives: traumatic experiences and loss, relationship issues, persistent pain, depression, anxiety, insomnia, and other forms of stress and illness. Sometimes we get “stuck” due to past or current difficulty and disturbing experiences.
My approach prioritizes what is important and meaningful to each individual. I’ve sought extensive training in a variety of therapeutic approaches that include the body and mind including: Somatic Experiencing, Focusing, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Cognitive Therapy, and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) including Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD. I also offer EMDR therapy which is a very effective, evidence-based therapy to recover from trauma, phobias, anxiety and other stressful life experiences.
