I am a Registered Clinical Social Worker (#13448) with the BC College of Social Workers and a Registered Clinical Counsellor (#21781) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. I am accountable to the College’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. I have a Bachelor in Social Work and Psychology from Defiance College (2004), a Master’s in Social Work from Case Western Reserve University (2005), and a PhD in Social Work from the University of Kentucky (2016). I also have advanced training in two trauma-specific treatment approaches: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Observed and Experiential Integration (OEI).
Since 2004, I have provided clinical social work services with children, youth, adults, families, and groups around a variety of topics and issues. I specialize in traumatic grief and bereavement and working with people who have been impacted by suicide. I also specialize in working with people who work in the helping professions, and I provide counselling, supervision, consultation, and training with people who work in social services. In addition to working with individuals, I have extensive training and experience in couple, family, and group counselling modalities. As a social worker, I am committed to social justice and ground my work in an anti-oppressive framework. This means that I think about your experiences holistically in the context of wider social and cultural factors.
