Hello, my name is Terry Gaechter
I have been practising as a trauma therapist and counsellor for ten years, and in the sexual assault and family violence field for the past five years.
I’m trained in somatic psychotherapy (Hakomi), EMDR, and Flash Technique, thus my way of working with clients is strength-based and grounded in a solid understanding of the impact of trauma. My practice is further informed by an understanding of attachment and relational wounding, by Internal Family Systems (parts work), the Structural Dissociation Model and Janina Fisher’s trauma work. Basically, this means that I’m super flexible in my approach and I draw on whatever modality and method works best for you, the client.
I bring curiosity, humour, presence, and thoughtfulness to my work. I am kind, caring
and non-judgmental, and will hold your pain when you cannot, until you are able to do
that for yourself. Until then I am committed to supporting you as you re-member
yourself, your inner world and experience, your strengths and resources, as well your
hopes and dreams for yourself going forward.
I work alongside you at your pace to manage or resolve issues such as grief and loss, depression, anxiety, fear, flashbacks, nightmares, anger, addiction, dissociation, historical or current trauma, life transition, sexuality and sexual identity, or even existential questions and concerns. Together we can find a way to understand and help you move beyond the things, people and situations that have been most difficult for you.
Please feel free to reach out if you would like more information or to make an appointment. I look forward to hearing from you.
